OVERVIEW
Samsung Vietnam Group was granted an investment license on March 25, 2008, and officially commenced operations in April 2009. The total investment capital is currently 11.18 billion USD.
Samsung’s operational facilities include:
- Samsung Vina Electronics (SAVINA) – Ho Chi Minh City: Responsible for sales and marketing activities of Samsung in Vietnam.
Head office located at Bitexco Tower, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
- Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) – Bac Ninh: Manufacturing plant for components and assembly of mobile devices, located in Yen Phong 1 Industrial Park, Yen Trung Commune, Yen Phong District, Bac Ninh Province.
- Samsung Electronics Vietnam – Thai Nguyen (SEVT): Manufacturing plant for components and assembly of mobile devices, located in Yen Binh Industrial Park, Dong Tien Ward, Pho Yen City, Thai Nguyen Province.
- Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC): Samsung’s consumer electronics manufacturing complex in Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park with approximately 6,000 employees.
- Samsung Vietnam Research and Development Center (SRV) – Hanoi: The Samsung Vietnam Research and Development Center is located on Hoang Minh Thao Street, Xuan Tao Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi City. Currently, there are over 2,000 engineers working here.
The two factories in Vietnam are SEV (Bac Ninh) and SEVT (Thai Nguyen, established in 2013, with an investment of 5 billion USD). Currently, these are the two largest and most modern manufacturing plants for components and assembly of mobile phones of Samsung Electronics globally.
These two factories account for over 30% of Samsung Electronics’ global workforce and provide over 50% of the total number of Samsung phones worldwide.
About 70% of the capacity of both factories is dedicated to the production of mobile phone components for domestic assembly as well as export to other factories.
